New D.A.D. Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries
The Direct Archdiocesan District announces the appointment of Panagiotis Papazafiropoulos as the new Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. He replaces Vincent Minucci who capably served in this capacity until his recent marriage and move to Boston.
Panagiotis, who will be ordained a deacon on May 17th at Holy Cross Church in Whitestone, was born and raised in Astoria (NY) and is the son of Aspasia and Vasilios Papazafiropoulos. Married to Christina Milatos, he holds an undergraduate degree from New York University, a Masters Degree from St. Vladimir’s Seminary (Scarsdale, NY), a degree in theology from the University of Athens as well as a music degree from the Ethniko Odeio (Athens, Greece). Until this appointment, Panagiotis worked at the firm of American Business and served as head chanter and parish youth director at Holy Cross (Whitestone) as well as having been a counselor at Camp St. Paul and at a number of District retreats.
As Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries, it will be Panagiotis' awesome task to organize and maintain an effective District-wide ministry to the young people of the DAD as well as coordinate and support the efforts of parish clergy and youth workers in their endeavor to help our youth and young adults more fully experience the Orthodox Faith. Moreover, Panagiotis will oversee, coordinate and expand the work of District ministries such as Camp St. Paul and the Parathosi cultural event as well as that of the various athletic leagues which function under the aegis of the Church.
